Tips & Tricks: Using the eFGB4

This version of the electronic Faculty Guidebook is more interactive than ever before. And while we have done our best to make it easy to use, there are a few conventions with which you should become familiar in order to get the most out of your use of the eFGB. To make sure that the Personal Guidebook (Individual Licensed copy of the electronic Faculty Guidebook) will work on your system, visit: http://www.pcrest.com/PC/FGB/test/index.htm

Working with the Star Navigation Image

To learn how the Star works, we encourage you to view What's the Star? You will find that button on the panel to the left. Once you have an understanding of the Star as a concept map, the information on this page will help you to work with it as a navigational tool.

The faculty roles or areas of focus each correspond to a section of the Guidebook. When you use the Star as your navigation tool, you may click on any of the roles within the Star to view the contents of that section. The roles and sections are paired as shown below (please note that the images below are not links.)

Additionally, the terms within the process ring are also interactive. Clicking on any of these will allow
you to view modules that
correspond to that process.

Finally, there are the cultural characteristics. These are also interactive; clicking them will
show you more information.

There are 5 basic types of links in the eFGB modules:

Example

Author
Links

At the top of each module, just below the title, is a listing of author/s and their affiliation/s. If you click on the author name, it will open a new window with that author's biographical information.

Simply close this new window when you are finished with it.

Glossary
Links

Some fairly ordinary words have additional import or meaning in Process Education. These appear throughout modules and appear in a magenta font. Simply HOVER your cursor/mouse over one to view the definition of that term or phrase.

To close the definition window, either use the close button in the window, click elsewhere on the page, or simply wait several seconds.

Assessment is the process that supports learning improvement and links it to growth.

Module
Links

These links are always in bold italics. Clicking a module link will open that module in the current window.

To return to the original module, simply use your browser's back button.

Table/Figure
Links

Most modules contain at least one table and many also contain one or more figures. These are referenced within the text and clicking on a Table or Figure link will move the page you are on to that portion of the module.

Again, to return to your previous location, simply use your browser's back button.

External
Links

Sometimes a reference to an external website will appear within a module's references listing. Clicking on these links will open that website in a NEW browser window.
