We haven't said much about Math and Graphing Skills, at least on our website or in our newsletters. We wondered why that was...why weren't we talking about this book and sharing such a nice and quick way to help students review core mathematical skills? Our conclusion was that we have so many valuable products in our student curricula collection, with new texts in development all the time, that it's easy to overlook some of the most abiding and valuable texts.

Math and Graphing Skills certainly fits that bill; at a typical bookstore cost of  just $33 , it is an inexpensive resource that allows students to conduct a self-guided review of principles in 40 discrete modules.

Module topics range from basic addition and subtraction to converting fractions to decimals, ratios and percents, scientific notation, polynomial multiplication, linear inequalities, logarithms, sets and basic geometric formulae.

The modules are short (2 to 3 pages each) and include the following sections:

  • Building Understanding (background information and important vocabulary)

  • Things to Remember (properties, rules, laws, and common misconceptions)

  • Models (2 to 5 problems worked out in detail)

  • Critical Thinking Questions (to help students strengthen their mathematical reasoning)
