Problem Solving Methodology
You have no doubt solved many problems in your life. Some problems may have been more challenging
than others. Most of us would like to become better problem solvers both in our personal and professional
lives. You’re in luck! As with earlier experiences in this book, there is a methodology that will assist you in
this process. You may find, initially, that it feels like there are too many steps. But give it a try a few times.
Students who have used it in the past have found it very helpful. And the best way to learn it is to see it
applied and then try it yourself. After reviewing the Problem Solving Methodology, see how it is applied
in the example on the next page.
