Thinking about thinking in different processes is fundamental to produce metacognitive thought throughout
your academic and professional life. The ability to step back from doing to understand what, how and
why you are doing something allows you to be very self-aware and conscious of your own decisions,
actions, and behaviors. Exercising self-control and deliberately choosing your thinking and actions is very
empowering. When you’re in charge of those things, you’re no longer just a demographic, consumer, or
pawn in the plans of others, acting and reacting in ways that serve their best interests rather than your own.
