Pick a situation where you can help others by being their official tutor. This could be done in the
math learning center, helping a special learning community, working with your younger siblings,
or visiting the local high school or middle school after school help session. You should volunteer
to work for five hours in helping this population of students learn how to learn mathematics
by working with them on whatever math they’re currently working on. Each time you finish
a session, as the learners what they learned about learning mathematics. Your report of your
tutoring work should include the following: 1) All the things they reported about learning to learn
mathematics, 2) What you learned about learning mathematics, 3) Effective ways you learned to
teach, and 4) What made it difficult for your learners to learn mathematics.
