This is part of a continuing series where we recognize and pay tribute to the
thinkers and practitioners who laid the foundation for Process Education.

"Self-belief does not necessarily ensure success, but self-disbelief assuredly spawns failure...among the types of thoughts that affect action, none is more central or pervasive than people's judgments of their capabilities to deal effectively with different realities."

Albert Bandura's work, especially as pertains to cognitive theory and self-efficacy are key to much of Process Education. His name and works are prominently cited throughout the Faculty Guidebook and he is the voice we listen to on the topic of how belief in self-efficacy is so very critical to student success. His passion and commitment are second to none and it is with boundless gratitude that we acknowledge all we have learned (and continue to learn!) from him.

Dr. Bandura has made many of his seminal publications available online. We strongly recommend Social Cognitive Theory: An Agentic Perspective as well as his overview of self-efficacy.
