CRITICAL REFLECTION
Your Learning Style Preferences
Answer the questions below.
1. What were your results? Did they surprise you? Why or why not?
What Were Ken’s Results?
Ken’s preferred learning style is kinesthetic/tactile. This result made sense to
him, since he has always learned best through doing. As a plant manager,
Ken rarely sat at his desk for long periods. He spent most of the day
walking around and problem-solving. Ken was struggling with his
college algebra class and will now put what he now understands
about his learning style to good use: he will put important
information on index cards he can carry with him and will take
frequent breaks when he is working on algebra problems. He
also plans to try using some web resources on the computer to help
him. Ken’s son is also using the computer to learn math, so Ken will
join him. They have also found some interesting math games on
the Internet that they can play together. Ken may even try chewing
gum while he studies. He and his son have a contest to see who will
get the highest math grade this semester!
