                   The Information Processing Methodology

                        Learning skills: observing, recording, managing resources, and checking perceptions

   WHY

As discussed in Chapter 8, in order to turn information into valuable knowledge, it is helpful to apply the
Information Processing Methodology.

   LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1. Gain a better understanding of the Information Processing Methodology and how it can be used to
    develop proficiency with processing information.

2. Learn to apply the Information Processing Methodology by analyzing it in the context of the given
    example.

   PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

Criterion #1: your discoveries about the Information Processing Methodology
    Attributes:
    a. demonstrate a level of comprehension or application (beyond simply a statement of fact)

Criterion #2: the connections made between the case study and the Information Processing Methodology
    Attributes:
    a. answers to the Critical Thinking Questions are complete
    b. you can provide a justification for your answers to the Critical Thinking Questions

   PLAN

1. Read the information about the Information Processing Methodology in Chapter 8.
2. Study Fred’s application of the Information Processing Methodology.
3. Think of a project you’ve already completed or want to complete for which you need to gather and pro-

    cess information. Use the Information Processing Methodology to develop a plan of or for that project.
4. Share your plan with a partner, who will complete an SII Assessment of your plan.
5. Answer the Critical Thinking Questions.
