PLAN

1. Examine the team roles given in Chapter 12 as well as the performance criteria for each. Also review
the Communication Methodology.

2. Your instructor will place you into teams of four or five members.
3. As a team, compile a list of ten instances or occasions where teamwork is more useful than individuals

working alone.
4. Your team should then select what they feel to be the five most critical team roles for the ten situations

your team listed.
5. Your team should assign at least one role (of the five you selected) to each member of the team.
6. Your team will prepare a 10-minute oral presentation. Use the Communication Methodology, the ex-

ample team within the chapter, as well as your team roles, as you work to develop your presentation.
7. Your presentation should address each of the following issues:

a. the ten instances where teamwork is preferable to individual work
b. the five most critical/helpful team roles and the reasons your team selected those five
c. an example of how that role has been used (even if unofficially) by someone in the group in order

to help promote a successful team outcome and experience
8. Deliver your presentation.
9. Your team Reflector (if assigned/used) should prepare a Written Reflector’s Report to be turned in to

your instructor (found on the resources website).
10. Your team Recorder (if assigned/used) should prepare a Written Recorder’s Report to be turned in to

your instructor (found on the resources website).
11. Individual team members answer the three Critical Thinking Questions and then complete their

individual SII Assessment of the team’s performance.
12. The team should then complete a Final SII Team Assessment, synthesizing the individual SII

Assessments of each team member and then integrating into a team assessment.
