EXPLORATION
1. Rearrange the data in the General Education Requirements Table and the Major Requirements Table
so that it is arranged by semester or term. This new table should contain the course listings you plan to
take for your first two years in college. Look up information in the catalog or class timetable to verify
that the course you want is offered during the particular semester or term you wish to take it. Organize
this information using a word processor or spreadsheet. You may want to combine the two tables.
2. Discuss, in writing, the ways in which you feel the general education requirements provide a strong
foundation for your “general” education and your major field of study. Also discuss which requirements
you think (1) are unnecessary and why, and (2) what is not required but you think should be and why.
3. Share your plan with another student. Ask for an assessment that includes the strengths in your plan as
well as areas for improvement.
4. Write an essay, at least two pages in length, in which you explain your plan. Include this essay in your
LVP.
