PLAN

1. Obtain a copy of your college’s catalog.
2. Read the “degree requirements” section of the catalog. Specifically focus on the general education or

    core curriculum requirements.
3. Select a major and identify the course requirements for that major, being sure you also include

prerequisites. Place these courses in a table.
4. Answer the Critical Thinking Questions.
5. Complete the General Education Requirements Table and the Major Requirements Table. As you

complete these tables, make sure that each class you are planning to take is actually offered when you
plan to take it; not every class is offered every semester.
6. Add up the credits from both tables. Consider what other courses you would like to take to complete
the required number of credits for the degree.

   CRITICAL THINKING QUESTIONS

1. What degrees does your school grant?

2. What general information is presented in the section of the catalog which discusses degree requirements?

3. What does the catalog say about the objectives or expected outcomes of the general education or core
    curriculum at your school?
