Becoming a Self-Grower
Learning skills: believing in oneself, checking perceptions, prioritizing
WHY
Most high performing individuals, in any context or field, are self-growers. They are empowered individuals
who get what they want out of life rather than simply reacting to life. Understanding the behaviors of self-
growers along with the levels leading up to that of a self-grower can provide you with an important step
in helping you grow and develop as a learner and a person.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
1. Develop an appreciation for the behavioral characteristics of a self-grower.
2. Assess the performance of an individual and determine which characteristics are similar to a self-
grower and where the greatest improvements can be made.
3. Challenge yourself to develop your performance in the area of self-growth.
PERFORMANCE CRITERIA
Criterion #1: determination of your current level of performance with respect to self-growth
Attributes:
a. the level of objectivity in your self-assessment
b. justification of ranking with three specific examples
Criterion #2: your defined action plan for improvement over the remainder of the course
Attributes:
a. realistic; improvements attainable
b. measurable outcomes included
PLAN
